To Be Mobile or Not to Be Mobile…

Ah yes, that IS the question, or at least, one of several questions that you should be asking yourself as the internet finds its way into purses or shirt pockets everywhere. This is especially true if you are now considering a new or re-designed web site. But let’s allow the numbers about mobile devices tell their story and you decide.

There are roughly 125 billion websites out there right now, but only 10 million are mobile device friendly.

Smartphones and tablet devices are already using up about 8% of the internet bandwidth (ComScore 2011). Almost 50% of all adults in the U. S. now own smartphones (Nielsen 2012), and 62% of them use them to get on the web every day (ourmobileplanet.com 2012).

That is a lot of web access, but even more surprising is that at least 25% of smartphone owners now use them as their primary method to access the web and not desktop computers (Pew Research 2011).

61% of all users are unlikely to return to a mobile site they had trouble accessing from their phone, and 40% go to a competitor’s site (Google 2011).

You might be e-commerce ready, but are you m-commerce ready? That’s also a large portion of your target audience that you may not be adequately looking after.

Having a mobile-friendly website for your business is becoming more and more important. As more people move to mobile devices, you need to take your business to them on the device(s) they use. Give us a call, we can help.
